Breakfast Information Session: FDI Initiative to India - Digital Media and ICT

The GTMA invites you to learn more about this high growth sector and the upcoming GTMA Digital Media FDI Mission to India in an interactive breakfast session on September 10th, 2009. Listen to Tracey Jennings, National Leader, Pricewaterhouse Coopers LLP, Entertainment & Media practice discuss both the Canadian Digital Media landscape and global trends and opportunities. She will be followed by Ravin Balakrishnan, from the Department of Computer Science, University of Toronto and co-director of the Dynamics Graphics Project who will provide a fascinating view of the award winning work being done in the GTA on innovative graphical interfaces. An overview will then be provided of the upcoming mission to India, where GTA companies will explore trade and investment opportunities with qualified Indian Digital Media companies in Mumbai, Hyderabad and Pune.

Digital content and services will be the key driver of industry growth during the next five years according to PwC’s latest Global Entertainment and media outlook 2009 – 2013 report. 

Global spending on internet access – both wired and mobile – is expected to rise from $215 billion in 2008 to $334 billion in 2013 directly accelerating the growth opportunities in Digital Media.

q     Film industry projected to grow at over 11.6% (CAGR)

q     Gaming expected at over 32% in the next five years (mobile gaming dominating with 74% share)

q     Internet advertising by over 32%

q     Digital Music’s share to grow from 16% in 2006 to 60% in 2013.
