Mobile applications are a phenomenal force in the modern ICT marketplace. The rate of growth of downloads is tripling annually and business is booming. Some estimates peg the value of the global marketplace at $9 billion by 2011. Adding to all the excitement is the extraordinary accessibility of the mobile app business model. It’s a market that, literally, a ten-year old with a computer can enter.
The engine behind all this energy is the burgeoning growth in mobile devices led by the BlackBerry. Research in Motion is a major investor in the mobile apps marketplace. And, as the recent acquisition of Toronto’s Viigo illustrates, RIM is as active locally as it is globally.
Tyler Lessard, Vice-President of BlackBerry Global Alliances and Developer Relations at Research In Motion (RIM), will be the featured speaker at “Doing Business with RIM.” Joining RIM in 2001, Tyler has helped to build a community of thousands of wireless solution providers delivering custom applications and services for BlackBerry to large enterprises, government agencies, industry professionals, small businesses, and consumers. Tyler is currently focused on initiatives to expand the scope and impact of the BlackBerry Developer Program. He’ll tell us about RIM’s plans to bring innovative new solutions to market with third party independent software vendors, systems integrators, and solutions providers. Join us on May 12, 2010, and learn how your company can contribute to this vision.
