ICT as a Smart Grid Enabler, Allstream Centre, Toronto, October 24, 8:30-11:30am

ITAC, working with the Ontario Ministry of Energy, the Ontario Centres of Excellence, Smart Grid Canada and a range of companies in the industry, is pleased to present a conference focused on ICT as enabler of the smart grid.

Program will commence at 9:00am.

Introductory Remarks / Settting the Stage - Jon Norman, Director, Transmission & Distribution Policy Branch, Ontario Ministry of Energy

Jon Norman is professional engineer with over 10 years experience in consulting and government.  His career spans both the energy and environmental sectors, as well as management consulting.  Jon is currently responsible for policy development related to electricity grid expansion, smart networks and Ontario’s new feed-in-tariff program.

Expert Panel 1:  Infrastructure & Innovation - Learn how leading-edge infrastructure and innovation are propelling the implementation and adoption of the smart grid in Ontario, across Canada and throughout North America.

Expert Panel 2:  Security - Learn how service providers and business and household customers are being challenged to secure their systems and their business and personal information, and what kinds of solutions are available to help.

Please note that there is a cost of $60 for ITAC members and $120 for non-members.  Thanks to Smart Grid Canada, we are able to offer a complementary lunch and workshop, "Privacy by Design," in the afternoon.  In addition, ITAC participants will be able to take advantage of the Smart Grid Canada member rate if they wish to attend the SmartGrid2011 conference taking place at the Allstream Centre over the next two days.
