ITAC Board of Governors Dinner, featuring Preston Manning:
"Bridging the Scientific and Political Spheres to Build a Stronger Nation"
As the founder of two political parties (including the one that currently governs Canada), Preston Manning is by any measure a great innovator.
His career in the House of Commons included a three-year term as the Leader of the Opposition. He also served as his caucus' Science and Technology critic until his retirement from politics in 2001. Throughout his Parliamentary career Mr. Manning was one of the country's most inspiring and provocative champions of the imperative of stronger Canadian science-based innovation and enterprise.
Upon retiring from politics, Mr. Manning continued to innovate, establishing the Manning Centre for Building Democracy which seeks to strengthen freedom and democracy in Canada based upon conservative principles. In his current capacity as President and CEO of the Manning Centre, Mr. Manning continues to be outspoken in public fora, in published articles and in books about the importance of Canada's knowledge-based industries.
Mr. Manning will be ITAC's special guest at our next Board of Governors Dinner taking place as part of the Alberta ICT Showcase on September 20 in Edmonton. He will share his views on the roles of government and industry in building a strong 21st century Canadian economy and offer some suggestions about how science-based businesses can communicate more effectively with political leaders. Please join us for a rare opportunity to exchange views with one of Canada's most important thought leaders on innovation and competitiveness.
