Realizing the enabling potential of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) is the theme of ITCH 2013. The conference will focus on impacts of ICT on healthcare delivery and personal health. We invite national and international papers that address one or more of the three broad characteristics of ICT that are realizing their enabling potential: Available, Tailored and Closer.
Considering key consultation issues, the conference begins with online and interactive services as alternative delivery mechanisms in general (the "availability"). Service navigation tools and personalized WebPages then lead to improved patient experiences (the "tailored"). TeleCare and TeleHealthCare focus on particular services best delivered remotely in patients' own homes (the "closer").
The conference aim is ambitious but achievable. On the horizon is an informed health ICT sector, with practitioners networked across organizations and integrated with a burgeoning research community. The focus is on Canada, learning from itself and from other countries – all in the international drive to realize the full potential of health ICT in practice.
