The book, featuring personal stories from 70 Canadian women business leaders, highlights their perspectives on the leadership characteristics of great leaders.

The Collective Wisdom event features discussion with four senior leaders as they tell their stories, with frank reflections about ambition, courage, and the choices Canada’s most successful women have made to manage their personal and professional lives.

Speakers

Cheri Chevalier is the Worldwide Sales Leader for Marketing Solutions at Microsoft Corporation. She leads the team of global sales professionals responsible for igniting customer’s digital marketing transformation.

With over 20 years of technology leadership experience – her previous roles have included leading the Canadian Modern Workplace business (focused on Collaboration, Intelligent Communications, Security, Analytics, Project Management and Data Visualization solutions) and serving as the Chief Marketing Officer for Microsoft Canada (responsible for integrated marketing communications, digital and social, data/analytics, events, and marketing operations).

Cheri has been recognized within and beyond Microsoft for her strategic marketing and leadership skills, including a landing a spot on Marketing Magazine’s Top 30 Under 30 list, and receiving Microsoft’s Chairman Award, the highest award given to employees globally.

Paula Hodgins is President of HPE Canada. Based in Toronto, Paula has national accountability for the P&L of HPE Canada and is the senior leader to the employees, customers, partners, government and media for Canada. In this role, Paula is accountable to develop business strategy, lead sales, business operations, marketing, finance, legal and employee engagement. This is a high growth hybrid cloud business that spans all customer segments from large enterprise to small and medium business. Paula’s team is at the center of helping customers digitally transform and modernize their business.

Paula joined HPE Canada in December 2018 from Microsoft Corporation where she worked for over 13 years. In her varied successful career at Microsoft, Paula held several key management roles. Most recently, Paula served as the General Manager of Azure Sales for Canada. In this position she was responsible for cloud sales in the enterprise account segment and focused on cloud infrastructure, applications, data and artificial intelligence solutions. In this capacity Paula consistently doubled Cloud revenue year over year.

Paula has participated in various senior leader development programs including “Leader Pad” (2016) and “The Judy Project for Executive Women” (Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto, 2017). Paula is very passionate about mentoring and supporting women in technology and is a mentor for the “Girls E-Mentorship Program” which is a charitable organization offering mentorship for female youth facing multiple barriers.

Colleen Moorehead is Chief Client Officer, Osler Hoskin & Harcourt LLP responsible for implementing Osler’s client-focused business development strategy. She was co-founder of ETRADE Canada. Colleen has extensive experience building successful companies and valuable brands. She is a respected business leader with senior management experience in financial services, technology, business and web-based services. Colleen has held a variety of corporate leadership positions and has a deep understanding of business development strategy in the services sector.

Since 2003, she has been a founder and current business director of The Judy Project, one of Canada’s leading leadership forums.  It is uniquely designed for executive women ascending to C-suite positions at the University of Toronto’s Joseph Rotman School of Management.

Colleen has been recognized with the 2015 Catalyst Canada Honours – Business Leader recognizing champions and the Canadian Marketing Hall of Legends, Business Builder 2010 Award.

Dr. Daria Thorp is presently President and CEO of ACD/Labs, a 180+ person multinational chemistry software company, headquartered in Toronto, Canada.

ACD/Labs manufactures and distributes software solutions that increase productivity of research, testing, and development in the chemical, food, biotech, and pharmaceutical industries. The organisation encompasses 10 branches and affiliate companies throughout North America, Europe and Asia. Daria joined ACD/Labs in 2001, starting in the marketing department. As the Company’s CEO since 2008, her mandate was to reorganise and modernise the operation and product portfolio, maintaining keen focus on financial stability and growth, deep product alignment between ACD/Labs products and market needs, and operational excellence. She also oversees the Company’s financial and HR policies, and continues to direct ACD/Labs’​ international expansion.
