Ontario Economic Summit
October 22-24, 2014
White Oaks Conference Resort and Spa
About the Ontario Economic Summit:
Presented annually by the Ontario Chamber of Commerce, the Ontario Economic Summit (OES) convenes invited leaders from the private and public sectors to develop solutions to Ontario’s greatest economic challenges. The OES brings together invited leaders from business, government, labour and academia for an unparalleled opportunity to drive a shared economic agenda, Emerging Stronger. The 11th Annual OES is taking place this year from October 22-24, 2014 at White Oaks Conference Resort and Spa in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario.
The Summit features signature segments such as Roundtables with Ontario Cabinet Ministers, “In Conversation with the Premier of Ontario” and Concurrent Strategy Sessions that further the key themes introduced in plenary sessions and define an agenda of action for the coming year.
The theme for this year is “From Recovery to Growth”, which will include segments on both what government and business can do to help grow Ontario’s economy. Delegates will consider this notion across three sub-themes: (I) Evaluating Ontario’s Business Climate; (II) What Government Can Do and; (III) What Business Can Do.
Some exciting program updates:
– The Quebec and Ontario Premiers will participate together at OES in a conversation about how the two provinces can work together to move the Central Canadian region from Recovery to Growth.
– U.S. Ambassador Heyman will speak about how to leverage a strong bilateral trading relationship to address shared problems and pursue global opportunities together.
– California’s State Treasurer, the Hon. Bill Lockyer, will share his insight and experience in tackling the State’s debt and deficit.
– Leading visionary Don Tapscott will provide an inspiring opening night keynote for us that we anticipate will be very aligned with Emerging Stronger. In 2013, Tapscott was ranked 4th most influential management thinker in the world at the Thinkers50 awards. Jordan Banks, Managing Director at Facebook Canada has also been invited to present on this first night and we are awaiting final confirmation from his office.
