ITAC – SERENE-RISC Forge Cyber Security Partnership

Two organizations working to ensure industry is armed with the best possible information about cyber security have agreed to co-operate on future joint initiatives.

The Information Technology Association of Canada and the Smart Cybersecurity Network (SERENE-RISC) will work collectively to share and mobilize cyber security knowledge.

“We are excited by the potential of our new partnership with SERENE-RISC, which brings together the Canadian aggregator of cyber-security research with the aggregator of Canadian ICT companies with a strong interest in cyber security,” says ITAC’s President and CEO Karna Gupta.

SERENE-RISC’s Scientific Director Benoît Dupont said the two organizations have a lot to share.

“We at SERENE-RISC are looking forward to collaborating with such an important industry organization,” he said. “We look forward to their participation in Network workshops, seminars and knowledge brokering, while offering excellent networking opportunities.”

With the agreement, ITAC becomes the Network’s first Affiliate member and has access to Konnect, SERENE-RISC’s online knowledge-sharing platform. It also gets access to knowledge digests to distribute to its members.

Bill Munson, ITAC’s Vice-President Policy and specialist in cybersecurity issues, says he is looking forward to the development of innovative joint initiatives that will support the expansion of Canadian leadership in the area.

With ITAC’s participation, the Network is now reaching hundreds of ICT companies in addition to the major industry and government members, academics and students that are already part of SERENE-RISC.

ITAC is Canada’s national information and communications technology business association, representing about 350 regular and associate members from across the country. It represents a broad range of large, medium and small enterprises spanning telecommunications and Internet services, consulting services, hardware, microelectronics, software and electronic content.
