Now accepting nominations for the 2017 Douglas R. Colton Medal for Research Excellence

THE DOUGLAS R. COLTON MEDAL recognizes excellence in research leading to new understanding, novel developments and/or applications in microsystems or nanotechnology in Canada.

This annual award includes a medal and a monetary prize of $4,500.

2016 Colton Medal winner Dr. Reza Nosrati with Ian McWalter, President & CEO, CMC Microsystems. An NSERC Postdoctoral Fellow at Queen’s University who completed his
PhD at University of Toronto, Dr. Nosrati was recognized for his pioneering work in assisted reproduction, including the development of novel microfluidics and nanotechnologies leading to more effective fertility treatments. His work also shows potential in cell biology, sensing and early stage cancer detection.

Award candidates include anyone who has successfully completed a Master’s or a Doctorate degree in a Canadian university within the previous three calendar years.

Nominations may be submitted by a university, a micro-nanosystems-related company in Canada, or jointly by a company and a university. 

Nomination deadline: August 25, 2017.
