Adam Chowaniec the former Chair of Zarlink Semiconductor, Tundra Corporation and ITAC addressed the December 2 Board of Governors meeting on the furture of Canada's publicly traded ICT companies. ITAC Gender Diversity Forum Provides Primer on Building an Inclusive ICT Workplace
On March 9, ITAC convened its first ever executive forum on gender diversity. Over 20 speakers from our industry and our stakeholder community came together to share best practices and an array of strategies for building more inclusive ICT workplaces. Their presentations were captured on video and are available here. They serve as a primer on how to design programs that better engage and retain women and other underrepresented groups in the workplace.

NRC Releases Video Footage of 2010 New Brunswick Innovation Forum
The National Research Council Institute for Information Technology (NRC-IIT) in Fredericton, New Brunswick, has released video footage of its New Brunswick Innovation Forum 2010, "Atlantic Canada's Fast Track to IT Opportunities." The Forum brought together close to 200 delegates from across the world for two days of workshops in Saint John, NB, on October 5 and 6. ITAC was fortunate enough to attend the forum and support our partners at the NRC-IIT. Watch video footage of the forum's panelists and presenters here.

There aren't very many Canadian women leading a team responsible for an $8 billion global business, but Christine Alford has entered that small group. ITAC Digital Business Forum Presents: Cisco’s Million Acts of Green
Any marketing or sales campaign that exceeds its target by 70 per cent is worth studying - especially when it set an ambitious target in the first place. Cisco's One Million Acts of Green Campaign set out to turn a million Canadians into environmental activists literally one act at a time. And it was immensely successful. Willa Black, Cisco's VP of Corporate Marketing, is one of the principal architects of the campaign. She provides an in depth look at the design and execution of the program and outlines Cisco's plans for how one million acts translate into a global target.

IT Hero Awards: WiFi-enabled canine search and rescue pack, Web-based CT scan bag awards
Saving lives appeared to be the theme of this year's choice of winners for the 9th Annual ITAC IT Hero Awards as judges picked developers of canine search and rescue pack that turns a dog into a mobile WiFi node and a Web-based CT (computed tomography) scanning system as the 2009 recipients of the awards.

ITAC President and CEO Bernard Courtois on CTV’s Tech Now
As part of his regularly scheduled appearances, ITAC CEO and President Bernard Courtois sat down with CTV’s Paul Brent, the host of Tech Now. The discussion centered on innovation, research, and technology and how Canada is keeping up with the rest of the world. In terms of global competitiveness, Bernard said, Canada is not where it should be. He said that for Canada, our future prosperity is going to be based on innovation.

The Impact of Effective ICT Strategies on Small and Mid-Sized Manufacturing
The leaders of manufacturing enterprises understand that effective information and communications technology investments can drive productivity and competitiveness in their business. To share this understanding with the manufacturing community, ITAC, the Information Technology Association of Canada, has created a series of videos wherein executives of small and mid-sized firms discuss their strategies and insights. This is the first in this series. It features Peng-Sang Cau, the President of Transformix Engineering. Transformix is a Kingston, Ontario based manufacturer of customized automation systems.
