New Regulations Amending the Designated Public Office Holder Regulations now include Members of Parliament (MPs), Senators and exempt staff working in the Office of the Leader of the Opposition in the House and in the Senate appointed pursuant to subsection 128(1) of the Public Service Employment Act to the category of designated public office holder.
The Lobbying Act requires lobbyists to report certain communications with designated public office holders to the Commissioner of Lobbying on a monthly basis. Beginning on September 20, 2010, lobbyists will be required to report those communications with the expanded group of designated public office holders: MPs, Senators and exempt staff working in the office of the Leader of the Opposition in the House and in the Senate.
