Working with our membership, ITAC establishes and sets targets for where Canada's knowledge economy should be compared to key peer/competitor nations. Where we fall short, ITAC determines what we need to do to get there and ensure we do what is needed in areas such as: skills, capital, tax, science & technology, and collaboration.
ITAC believes Canadian businesses should be leaders in the use of ICT for competitive advantage, productivity and growth. Use of ICT by small and medium enterprises should increase towards that of our US counterparts. By partnering with other associations, as well as with Government, we work to ensure public policy supports these goals.
ITAC strives to ensure Federal, Ontario and other Canadian Governments are leaders in ICT use. ITAC positions itself as a trusted advisor to Government. We gather industry leaders and Government together and work to make it easier for our industry to sell to government.
ITAC believes the Canadian healthcare system should be a world-leading user of ICT to achieve superior patient outcomes and cost-effectiveness, as well as fostering development of a world-leading Canadian health ICT industry. ITAC works to correct chronic under-spend on ICT.
ITAC’s view is Canada’s laws should promote leadership in development and use of advanced technology. We want to ensure efficient and cost-effective measures to protect privacy and instill confidence in the e-economy.
ITAC believes that in order for Canada to continue to compete worldwide, we need to promote policies that will ensure a steady supply of talented men and women for our local ICT industry. We work with industry as well as with Federal, Provincial and local governments to establish initiatives to support this goal.

Please note that the next HR Forum Meeting is scheduled for Thursday, October 15, 2009 from 9:00 to 1:00 pm and this meeting is being hosted by Rogers. Our moderators have put together a great agenda for this session.

"Beyond Diversity to Human Equity"
Trevor Wilson, President, TWI Inc.
Many businesses talk about creating diversity within their organizations.
As valuable as this can be, it’s worth taking a step further. Trevor
Wilson, well-known author of Diversity at Work: The Business Case for
Equity and Global Human Equity Strategist, will show you how to take that
step and move beyond diversity to human equity. Don’t confuse equity with
equality. They are far from synonymous. Equality is about ignoring
differences and treating people the same. Equity is about acknowledging
differences and turning them into a competitive advantage. You’ll discover
the paradigm shift to human equity is well worth the journey.

- This session will provide a framework and practical practices to support both mental health and productive response to mental illness in the workplace
- The sessions will look at common tools and resources that are currently available to organizational and how to optimize them

Driving Directions
From West-End:
Take QEW East to Gardiner; take the Jarvis St. Exit; go north on Jarvis;
OMP is located on the East side of Jarvis on Isabella Street
From East-End:
Take 404 South and exit on "Bloor-Bayview Exit"; go to Bloor Street by
exiting on Bloor St exit and making a left on Castle Frank Road and a quick
right on Bloor St; travel west on Bloor St to Huntley St or Jarvis St. and
turn onto Isabella
From North-End:
Take the 427 South to QEW and follow west-end directions above or take 401
to 404 and follow east-end directions above
(Note: parking within OMP is limited and will most likely be filled before 8:30am - street parking is also limited to a maximum of 3 hours - there are parking lots around OMP: 1) Jarvis St just south of Bloor St; 2) 1 block south of Bloor St and Sherbourne St on Selby St; 3) in the Manulife building on the north side of Bloor St at Jarvis Street (continue across the street when you are driving north on Jarvis St.). Also, if you are traveling north on Jarvis Street, keep left if you want to go to Bloor Street, otherwise you will go past OMP and go under Bloor St - if you've past OMP it will be difficult to get back to Bloor or Jarvis.
GO Train/TTC Directions
Nearest GO Train station is Union Station - from Union station take the
Yonge Street subway line to Bloor Street station and walk east to Jarvis
and south to OMP.
From East-End: take Bloor-Danforth subway line to Sherbourne St station
and walk west to Jarvis and south to OMP.
From West-End: take Bloor subway line to Yonge Street station and walk
east to Jarvis and south to OMP.
From North-End: go south on Yonge subway line to Bloor Street station and walk east to Jarvis and south to OMP or take Spadina subway line to St. George station and get on Bloor Street station east to Yonge Street station and walk east to Jarvis and south to OMP.
