Breakout Session Speaker Profile
Blaize Horner Reich (PhD, UBC) came to academia after 15 years as an information technology professional and consultant to industry in both Canada and Asia. Today, she is Dean of the Beedie School of Business, Simon Fraser University and holds the title RBC Professor of Technology and Innovation. Dr. Reich is well known for her scholarly work on the alignment of business and IT strategies, and, with her research group PM Perspectives (www.PMPerspectives.org), has been awarded several national Social Science and Humanities Research Council grants to explore ways to improve the success of IT-enabled business projects.
Dr. Reich currently chairs the advisory board for RADIUS, the Beedie School’s social innovation initiative, and is founding academic lead and national advisory board member of the Business Technology Management program, an initiative of the Information Technology Association of Canada. She is also a founding board member of the CIO Association of Canada and a board member of the national research Information and Communications Technology Council. She has served on corporate boards including Industrial Alliance Pacific Financial Services Company and Thrifty Foods. Her interest in IT extends to investing in technology companies started by friends and Canadians on Kickstarter but is still waiting for her first big windfall.
