Cancelled: ITAC Cybersecurity Talent Alliance – Future of the Cybersecurity Workforce Symposium, scheduled for October 29, 2019

The Information Technology Association of Canada (ITAC) has made the difficult but prudent decision to cancel the ITAC Cybersecurity Talent Alliance – Future of the Cybersecurity Workforce Symposium. scheduled for Tuesday, October 29, 2019.

Unfortunately, at this time, the ecosystem on talent acquisition within our membership has not been developed as much as we had expected.  Going forward, we will look more deeply into how we can efficiently draw knowledge from large enterprises to smaller stakeholders to share insight on what is important in a cybersecurity job. We will also address what competencies underlie successful performance in the field and how we can develop the cybersecurity talent that Canada needs now and in the future.

We wish to thank everyone who expressed interest in participating in this conversation by registering, volunteering to speak, or sponsoring this event.  Registrants and sponsors will be receiving a full refund before the end of the week.  We appreciate your understanding and will work toward further developing our ecosystem and rescheduling the event.

The Cybersecurity Talent Alliance was formed as a governing body to develop and deliver solutions to address workforce development needs in cybersecurity under a 3-year federal government funded program, the Cybersecurity Skills Initiative.  ITAC’s partners in the Cybersecurity Talent Alliance are drawn from industry, government and academia. Together, this Alliance will focus on creating a comprehensive and impactful collaborative network and partner ecosystem to further cybersecurity education, training and workforce development.   This Alliance will still meet in-person next week to support the vision to ensure a secure digital nation that is capable of advancing Canada’s economic prosperity and national security.

Please be advised that both ITAC and the ITAC Cybersecurity Alliance have additional opportunities to be engaged over the next month, including e-panel conversations and focus groups.  If you are interested, please contact Sandra Campbell, Senior Program Manager, at scampbell@itac.ca.

Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions. We thank you for your understanding and look forward to seeing you at next year’s industry-leading event.
