Industry Salutes Kathryn Hannah & Gevity Consulting with Top CHIA Awards

Statue(TORONTO, ON): From a leader who has transformed nursing practice at home and around the world to new tools for expediting palliative care referrals in Toronto and improving continuity of care for seniors in the Coburg, Ont. area, the stars shone brightly at the Canadian Health Informatics Awards Gala (CHIA) in Toronto June 2.

Kathryn Hannah, PhD, President, HECS Inc and Adjunct Professor, School of Nursing, University of Victoria, was honoured with the leadership award, recognizing outstanding ongoing contributions as a thought leader to advance Canadian HI. Her impact over the last 30+ years is summarized in the nomination: “Dr. Hannah has laid a foundation within Canada that will carry forward future generations and lead initiatives that are changing the face of nursing documentation and practice both in Canada and internationally. She has positioned Canada as a leader in nursing informatics and her pioneering work is recognized and used internationally.”

The top vendor award went to Gevity Consulting Inc. for Corporate Citizenship. Gevity, an informatics and management consulting company based in Vancouver, was recognized for its wide-ranging contributions to the industry. This includes Canadian and national standards development, mentorship of emerging professionals and industry conference and event participation and support.
