Breakout Session Speaker Profile
Mark Patterson is a changemaker in the career development space. His career has seen him in roles focused on creating opportunities for professionals from diverse educational and career backgrounds. His greatest interest lies in addressing barriers to employment for youth, persons with disabilities, Aboriginal peoples and new immigrants. In his current role, as Executive Director of Magnet, Mark oversees a network of postsecondary institutions, not-for-profits, government, labour, and industry partners working together to tackle pressing labour market challenges by leveraging cutting edge technology to match talent to opportunity. Under Mark’s leadership, Magnet has become a network of 50,000 individuals, 24 post-secondary institutions, 80 labour- and community- based organizations and 2,000 employers. Mark actively presents at conferences and webcasts related to career leadership and development.
Mark is a member of the Ventures for Canada Advisory Board. In 2015, Mark was awarded the Linda Grayson Award, which recognizes outstanding leaders at Ryerson University who have demonstrated excellent service delivery and commitment, while positively impacting the lives of students, staff, faculty and the broader community.
