TECHNATION releases Canadian Cybersecurity Skills Framework
Canadian businesses and industries continue to struggle to meet their cybersecurity needs. There are four key workforce development challenges associated with this:
• Generating and retaining cybersecurity operations talent to meet the needs of the Canadian
labour market;
- Ensuring contributing technical and non-technical roles have required knowledge, skills and
abilities;
- Being responsive to the changing technology landscape; and
- Creating a taxonomy and normalizing cybersecurity work and activities within the Canadian
workplace.
To address this, TECHNATION’s Cybersecurity Talent Alliance, in collaboration with the tech community/ TECHNATION members, developed a Cybersecurity Skills Framework
that helps clarify Canada’s labour market need. It is also a useful guide for cybersecurity workforce development activities, intending to respond to business and industry demand. This Report is aligned to the U.S. National Initiative on Cybersecurity Education (NICE) Cybersecurity Workforce Framework but uniquely provides an organizational security lens and specifically addresses Canadian labour market needs.
